COVID-19: Businessman recovered from COVID-19 sets up the hospital for poor patients.

The Real estate businessman Kadir Shaikh converted his office space into COVID-19 hospital for poor

Surat, Gujarat: 63 years old Kadir Shaikh after discharge from hospital, he has constructed a hospital for the poor in his 30,000 square feet office space with 85 beds with oxygen facilities who are infected by Coronavirus but cannot afford to have proper treatment. Such patients will receive treatment for free. Previously, his brother was suffering COVID-19 and received a hospital bill to the Rs 12 lakh.

He told the media “This hospital is for everyone, irrespective of caste and religion. I also faced lots of financial problems in earlier days and I worked hard… now I am financially sound. I thought of giving a helping hand to the needy people during this global pandemic, My 3 sons and I always helping the poor people but I want to do something more for them”.

He signed an agreement with the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) to supply medical staff and equipment at the facility with 15 ICU beds. Surat Municipal Commissioner BN Pani and SMC Deputy Health Commissioner Dr Ashish Naik after visited the hospital approved the proposal.  The hospital has been named Hiba Hospital.

Dr Naik said, “In the next few days, the hospital will start functioning with patients referred from New Civil hospital and SIMMER hospital,”. Kadir Shaikh has also arranged separate space for doctors and nurses. A kitchen and dining area also have been made ready, They are also planning to provide cooks and take care of the daily food needs of patients.
