Hitman Rohit Sharma Nominated For Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award 2020
The Batting superstar of India’s Rohit Sharma has been nominated for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award 2020, for a sportsperson, this is the highest award in the country.
Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virat Kohli already honoured with this award. Rohit will be the fourth in the row to be honour with the Khel Ratna Award.

“On Tuesday the selection panel comprising of former Indian cricket team opener Virender Sehwag and former captain of the men’s national hockey team Sardar Sigh reportedly met at the Sports Authority of India headquarters for deciding the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, Arjuna and other national sports awards”. As per the PTI reports.
The Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award is given to an athlete for his/her outstanding performance for the country at the highest level over a period of four years.
Hitman Rohit Sharma is the only cricketer recommended by the committee, He is nominated after his outstanding 2019 performance with 556 runs at an average of 92.66 in five Test matches. He created history as he became the first batsman to score five centuries in a single World Cup edition.
Rohit is also India’s second-highest century-maker at the Cricket World Cup with five centuries. Sachin Tendulkar is the first highest century-maker. i.e, Six.
For Arjuna award this year 29 athletes recommended including Indian cricket team fast bowler Ishant Sharma, Rio Olympics Bronze medal-winning wrestler Sakshi Malik, kabaddi player Deepak Hooda and many more.
The IPL 2020 is scheduled to start on September 19 in UAE, The Rohit Sharma will be seen in action next month in IPL. Since the T20I series in New Zealand at the start of this year, he has not played any competitive game due to injury.
